PROFILE

Romario is an Associate in the Transactional Department at Hamel-Smith Caribbean, where he works closely with Ben to close a broad range of property and corporate and commercial transactions. He brings a strategic, solutions-oriented approach to every matter, leveraging both his academic background and practical experience to deliver efficient and cost-effective results for clients. Before joining Hamel-Smith Caribbean, Romario spent five years gaining valuable in-house and advisory experience. He served as Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at a statutory corporation and previously as a Tax and Corporate Services Associate at a Big Four accounting firm. These roles provided him with extensive exposure to public and private sector governance, regulatory compliance and the demands of cross-border advisory work. Romario has worked with diverse clientele and groups, including international businesses and government stakeholders, and has collaborated with boards, committees and operational leadership to drive good corporate governance and legally-sound business outcomes. Romario is a firm believer that every problem has a solution. He approaches challenges with diligence and creativity, always focused on identifying practical, client-centered outcomes. Outside of his legal practice, Romario is an active member of his church, where he has served on the board for over four years. He enjoys playing tennis in his free time and is currently honing his Spanish, aspiring to achieve fluency.
