Vidisha is a member of the Transactional Department at Hamel-Smith Caribbean. She has been practising law for over twenty years. Vidisha has spent her career in private practice at major law firms in Barbados, where she developed a keen interest in real estate and finance and advanced her specialization, working on transactions of all sizes, locally, regionally and internationally. She joined the team at Hamel-Smith Caribbean as a long-standing and experienced member of the legal profession.
Outside of the office, Vidisha enjoys swimming and spending time in nature.
Practice Focus
Throughout her career, Vidisha has worked on a vast range of real estate transactions, including developments, standalone properties, condominiums and townhouses and has represented clients locally, regionally and internationally. Her clients have included developers, investors, sellers and buyers in both the commercial and residential real estate sectors. Vidisha has been involved in M&A transactions involving real property, including in the hotel sector, oil and gas sector and real estate sector in general, in which she has advised on title issues and general land-related matters. She also has experience in drafting and advising landlords and tenants on commercial and residential leases. Given her wide range of experience in various types of transactions, sectors and clients, Vidisha has developed a solid specialization in real estate.
Vidisha also has worked on finance transactions in a number of sectors including tourism (such as hotels and car rental companies), retail (such as malls, shopping centres and stores) and general commercial and residential real estate. Her clients have included financial institutions and other lenders as well as borrowers, including companies and individuals. She has advised on security packages, advised on and drafted many types of loan and security documents and has represented financial institutions in mergers and acquisitions transactions.
